Happy Hamster!

It is COLD here in Iowa! It got up to a high of maybe 20 degrees today, but in the afternoon it was 13F outside and I didn't really feel like risking a cold. See the first picture to see an unhappy hamster freezing in the cold.

But fortunately for me I have a friend who lives in a new condo in downtown that has it's own fitness center! It's pretty nice with all new Precor machines and it's hardly used by the residents, so I can get in there on the weekend and run to my heart's content. I covered 5 miles today, which is a bit boring but usually I have my iPod with me to get through the miles.

Another great part of the day was when I was listening to Burning 20 and heard Adam, my fitness buddy from Florida, mention this blog in his excellent podcast! If you haven't listened to Burning 20 yet, do yourself a favor and go check it out. It even turns out that he used to live here and has some experience with the midwest. Adam, buddy if you read this you know what Iowa winters are like, send some of that Florida sunshine our way. I was getting used to the 40 degree winter! The funny part of the podcast came when Adam said that I had better be going to taekwondo class. I was actually listening while driving to teach both of the classes this morning. Everyone in the car thought that was funny and fitting. Thanks Adam and keep in touch!

Anyway, with the cold weather I took advantage of the treadmill and became the happy hamster you see in this picture.

See ya on the roads/treadmill everyone!

And you wonder why I moved? Enjoy the freezer burn and I look forward to chasing you through the ice box. Keep throwing those jumping roundhouses and flying sidekicks and you'll be just fine. Enjoy the season and think warm thoughts. - Adam
