Long run and knee pain!

Yesterday seemed like a happy day with a run of 6 miles where I averaged 9:45/mile and my shins didn't hurt at all! I ran on a warm (39F/3C) and windy (25mph/40kph) afternoon. The weather is still unseasonably warm for January in Iowa. It looks like we'll be getting into more regular winter temps this week. Maybe I'll try to give my knee a rest on the treadmill when it gets really cold.

Today, my left knee is giving me a lot of trouble right when it bends. It feels like there is a catch in my knee and there is a quick bit of pain when it bends. I am hoping that with ice and rest and some stretching I can get this pain to go away. I don't want to have to take time off because I am building distance right now and I need to get up to half marathon distance so I can understand what that feels like. If anyone out there has any input for me on this issue, please feel free to let me know, I'm just hoping I'm ok. One step forward, two steps back this week folks.

See ya on the roads,
Yeti
