Wish me luck!!!

As I write this I am thinking about all of the other people who are going to bed thinking about taekwondo testing tomorrow. I am getting ready to head to bed, but tomorrow I will get up and drive to Ames, Iowa to the campus of Iowa State University (Go Cyclones!) where I will be testing for my 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo.

I'm pretty excited to test and also more than a little bit surprised that the time has gone this fast. I can't believe that I have been a black belt for over 3 years already. It seems like it takes so long to get there and once you are there the time goes by so fast! I'm lucky to have a great group of folks to work out and be friends with. It seems that in the martial arts once you get to a certain level of rank and involvement, the group really becomes your family. I know that I wouldn't be testing if they all hadn't supported me and helped me to get ready for this test.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. I haven't run much this week due to training and resting up for the test, but next week the weather will continue to move toward spring and I'll get out on the roads a lot more once this task is done. Now all I have to do is go out there and have a great time showing off my skills! I'll make sure to post some pictures from the testing for all of you to see.

See ya in the dojang folks!
Alex

Adam,

I figured you'd know what I was going through. :-)

The test went pretty well. I broke most of my boards, remembered all of my forms and did pretty ok with sparring. After the test we were heading outside and my Master Instructor stopped by and said "Good Job", so that makes me happy.

I'm pretty sore now though. :-) It was great fun and I really enjoyed the workout. I didn't remember the test being that hard but that's why we do it eh? Unfortunately my camera broke right before the test, so no pictures yet but I might be able to get some from some other people. I'll see.

I'll let you know if I passed later this week.
