Late lower body workout! Ugh. - (12/84)

Wow, we got started late tonight! I'm getting ready for the big holiday, St. Pats is important when you're mostly Irish. ;o) I'm having some people over and needed to get the place cleaned up. Also, my girlfriend got off of work later and we're trying to keep this fitness thing between the two of us so we keep motivated. So I'll keep the post short so I can get to bed.

Today was lower body workout. We're still doing lunges for quads. They're a challenge when you switch from stationary lunges to walking lunges. You really have to make sure to concentrate to keep your balance. I'm sure that's a good whole body lift though, so I think we should keep up with it. Then for hamstrings I like to do stiff leg deadlifts again. I feel like they work pretty good. I think my form isn't as good on the last ones so the weight is pretty much spot on for now. Then on to the ever deceptive calf raises, my legs were shaking after those. Finally we finished up with crunches which were more tiring tonight than usual. I think I'm just a bit tired. That's it for the shorter lower body workout.

I have some running to do tomorrow, just a 2 miler. Then my long run on Sunday for 8 miles. That should bring my total for the week up quite a bit, but we're getting into the distance portion of half marathon training. This is the most important stretch for my May 6th race. I'm focused on getting good miles in and staying healthy, so I'm watching any new pains really closely. One other exciting thing is that I went out to the local Apple store and got a new iPod Shuffle! It will be replacing the old one that finally had to be recycled as it's battery was just going bad. Since the new ones aren't very expensive I figured I'd rather have the one that clips on. I'll put a review of how it works after my next two runs. Other than that, nothing new to report.

See you on the roads folks!
Alex
