Lifting as therapy: upper body - (15/84)

Have you ever had one of those days? I just did. It didn't matter what I did today but it went wrong. It was difficult to keep a positive attitude and I must admit by the end of the day I was ready to just give up. And I nearly did.
I must say this is where my girlfriend deserves a medal. Not only does she deal with my grumpyness, she also got me into our home gym to lift some weights. After lifting some iron and taking out my agressions and aggravation on the weights I feel much better. On to the workout report!
The bench press went well, I didn't feel that strong but I kept with in and hopefully I'll get stronger and get back up over 100 pounds again soon. Dumbbell flyes I didn't feel a lot stronger, but I did feel more stable which is encouraging. Side raises went well, I could really feel them working! Front raises are good to feel a good burn, by the end you're glad you are done. For back exercises I did 4 sets of dumbbell rows which I could really feel working tonight. Then I moved on to deadlifts. I got the wrong weight, but it was still a good workout. I did tweak the lift a bit by changing my grip to overhand with one hand and underhand with the other. I'm not sure why, but this seems to turn up the intensity on the lift instantly. For triceps I did dumbbell crossbody lifts and dips again. The crossbody lifts went ok, not sure I could feel them that well tonight. Dips went really well, I have almost started adding more to the set. I think I'm getting stronger there. To finish off the workout we did 6 sets of incline curls. I really like to finish off the upper body workout with these. It really blasts my arms to finish off my workout with style! Overall it was a good workout and I feel much better mentally after we're done. It's amazing what a good workout will do for your mood.
Well that's it for the workout report. On to the weight stats!
Current weight: 195#
Current body fat: 21%
Looks like I am not really losing weight right now, but I am converting my fat weight to muscle weight which is encouraging. I need that muscle to get myself through 13.1 miles in May. Besides, muscle looks good too. ;-) Everything is going well, but it's time to get to bed folks!
See you on the roads everyone!
Alex
