Slooooow today - (6/84)

I taught two taekwondo classes this morning which was pretty fun and I felt pretty good. A bit stiff from the weightlifting but otherwise ok. After class I went down to Grey's Lake here in Des Moines and went for a walk with my friend Jo and her two dogs Hardy and Scout. The total loop was exactly two miles which we covered in about 45 minutes. It was a nice walk on a beautiful day here in Iowa. I like to say that this is the time of the year when Iowa apologizes for being so bad over the winter.

After the walk I decided it was both too wet and too crowded at the lake to get a decent run in, so I went over to Jo's condo and ran on the treadmill in her fitness center. I must be a bit tired because after mile 2 I got really worn out and just couldn't keep pace. I resolved to work through it though as the half marathon won't allow me to stop if I feel a bit off. I speed walked a bit and eventually caught my breath. Then I finished up the run at almost my original pace for a total of 4.14 miles. I'm really glad that I kept at it, but that was kind of tough on the ol' confidence. We'll pick it back up tomorrow and Tuesday I'm sure. Gotta keep positive. Otherwise, that's it for today!

See you on the roads folks!
Alex

Hey Alex, thanks for your great blog and comments on my site. Here is my workout plan I've been doing over last 8 weeks. I kind of stalled out the last two weeks. However, I've added close to 4 lbs in muscle over the last 8 weeks. I know I didn't haven't been banging it out like a true SEAL would.

Can't wait for a new week.
