Travel Run - Texas A&M - (26/84)

Hey everyone! I'm in Texas now after a loooong drive overnight to get here. We drove the 15 hours straight through with 3 drivers in the car. It was a pretty long drive, and being over 6 feet tall I don't fit in a car for that amount of time very well. I needed to get out for a run to work out the kinks a bit. So after we got in to town, I got my running gear on and headed out to explore the college campus on foot.
I forgot how many cool traditions and buildings they have at Texas A&M, I'll post pictures later but for now a description will have to do. I ran through the campus past the University Golf Course which looks beautiful! On the other side of the main drive is a memorial to students that were killed in a bonfire building accident in 1999. For more information on the history and symbolism of the Aggie Bonfire, click here. After looking at the memorial for a bit I continued on through the campus on to Kyle Field, home of the 12th Man, where the Aggies play their home football games. It is a beautiful stadium right in the heart of the campus and I can just imagine what gameday is like there. I took some pictures of the stadium and of a statue of the 12th man out in front of the stadium. I also forgot that there is a memorial to the A&M Dog Mascot who is traditionally named Reveille from the name for the morning wake up bugle call. I forgot that they had built a memorial to the dogs right in front of the stadium. Being a dog owner and a dog lover, I took a couple of pics of that as well. Then I turned around and ran the same route back to our hotel for a nap and a shower. Now, after my nap I am ready to head over to the taekwondo venue and get to work refereeing! Everyone wish me luck and I'll get back to working out after the weekend. I'm sure I'll get plenty of cardio in tomorrow refereeing sparring.
Run Summary:
Mile 1: 9:51
Mile 2: 12:07
Mile 3: 14:56 (many pics!)
Mile 4: 14:17 (more pics!)
Mile 4.5: 4:53
See you on the roads folks!
Alex

Cool photo! Where's the podcast? hehehe.
I have thought about doing a podcast, but I'm not sure where to start! I really don't have any recording equipment to speak of. Maybe I'll get Podcasting for Dummies and see if I can learn!
Good to hear from you Adam!
