Upper body, Round 2! - (5/84)

I found another happy hamster! :o)
Seriously though, we're back in the home gym, the 'palace of pleasure and pain' as Mr. Tinkoff calls it for another round of upper body weightlifting. I made a couple of exercise tweaks in the plan that I think smoothed out my workout quite a bit and made a couple of mid-workout tweaks. I feel like it was a really good session tonight. On to the report.
First I did bench presses, a good ol' chest strengthener. I think I need to move up my peak set for those to 95#, 85 is already seeming a bit too easy. That makes me happy as it means we're making progress! Dumbbell flyes felt good and they go well with the bench press. Side raises for my shoulders were good, 20# in each hand at the end felt a bit heavy tonight so I think I have that dialed pretty well. Front raises to finish off the shoulders felt good but a bit easy, so I think we'll dial that up a bit next time. On to the back exercises, dumbbell rows I just couldn't decide if they were easy or hard tonight, so I think we'll just leave them be for now. I do need to keep working on my form on those. Deadlifts are still one of my favorites on upper body night, they're just a whole body move! You get to feel like a real powerlifter too. :-) I imagine being in the olympics like those huge weighlifters are. Next for triceps are the new dumbbell cross-body lifts that I have been doing. They are really interesting and I can feel the back of my arm working so I'll keep it up on those. I finished off my tris with some dips for that big muscle burn! Then I did 6 sets of incline curls finishing off with my arms quivering at 20# in each hand for 12 reps. I love finishing the workout that way, I really feel like I have been working hard!
Let me know how everyone out there is doing! I'm thinking I might add a Navy Seals PT DVD to my workout gear for some time on the road that I have coming up. I think that the calisthenics might be the perfect thing to take on the road. No gear to bring along. Jason, let me know what you think of the idea! I know you've been working on the NST workout. Good to hear from all of you and keep it up out there!
See you out there folks!
Alex
