Martial Cardio - (37/84)
As many of you know, I'm not just a runner, I am a martial artist. Frequently I get a cardio workout from taekwondo class instead of getting out on the road. Tonight it worked out just perfectly as we're having a bit of rain. I went to two taekwondo classes and helped out with the class as well, showing them some cardio conditioning drills to get all of our pulses up.It was a fun couple of hours and I think that I really got a pretty good workout. I wasn't sure that it would be the case tonight as we're getting into the summer season and people are spending more time outside and not in class. Overall it was a good workout. Now I just need to get some things done here and get to bed. So I'll keep this post short and I'll see you all later.
See you on the roads folks!
Alex

Is that a wince of pleasure or pain? Isn't it funny how we laugh when it hurts so good... We are such funny animals. Awesome shot.

That's the "I know what's coming" face. It's about to hurt, really soon. I think right after my friend took the shot I was on the floor going "Owowowowowow!" The gentleman teaching is a 3rd degree black belt in Hapkido and is veeeery good at it. :)
Great guy though, great teacher. Good to hear from you Adam! I'm getting so close to the half marathon now that I am getting nervous. Having those doubts as to whether or not I can do it. Tell me that's just a normal thing...
See ya!

I personally have no idea of normal - but whatever you are going through, just accept it and learn the lesson under the skin of it. As far as Hapkido goes, that looks very much like what we call in Aikido a Nikyo wrist lock, which is usually followed by a painful drop to the ground. How I miss my training... MA training that is...
I have definitely been learning a lot of lessons from this journey my friend. I have been listening to all of your podcasts just to hear your thoughts and philosophy. It really helps to hear a different perspective and keeps me grounded on this path. I owe everyone a lot for helping me through this. From my vague memory of Aikido I think that is pretty much the same lock. It's very basic, but VERY effective as we both know. Maybe someday you can get back in the dojo. It always feels like home to me. Be well my friend.
