Racing the Rain - (49/84)

Today's run was definitely a challenge. I started the run in hot, sunny weather with quite a lot of wind battering me around. It tired me out a bit in the first mile and got me more than a bit annoyed with the weather. I got through the first mile ok, but in the second mile my knee hurt a lot more and I ended up walking quite a bit more.
The rest of the run went ok. I walked more to make sure my knee ended up rested rather than a lot more injured. I imagine after the half marathon I'll need to rest it quite a bit to let it get better. Then I plan to start working on the C25K plan detailed by St. Stephen on Phedippidations with my girlfriend. She isn't a runner, but I'd like to get her through these workouts. I'm sure the re-start of training with less distance and time would be good for me as well. I can work on developing a good base of running again. I also have a new pair of running shoes that I will start breaking in after the half marathon to replace the Brooks shoes that I am currently running in.
Run summary:
Mile 1: 9:23
Mile 2: 11:34
Mile 3: 11:18
Mile 4: 12:54
Mile 5: 12:42
Mile 6: 13:20
Mile 7: 11:01
Mile 7.35: 5:05
Overall an ok run, not my best but not my worst either. I think the weather out in Maryland will be better than it is here.
See you on the roads folks!
Alex
