What a week!

I'm back in Iowa and working on getting back to training. I just have had a few problems getting started...
  1. My weight bench is currently serving as a shelf for boxes in my basement to keep them out of the water flowing through (yep, had a spring flood)

  2. Work has been SUPER busy this week (makes me want to get out for a run even more)

  3. I just haven't taken charge and made time for it.

That last one is the real deal. I just need to make some time to get out there. I think I'm just having a bit of a post-race letdown and I'll get out of it soon.

I have decided that distance runners are great people and that I'd like to spend some more time with that group! I know that I had several nice conversations with folks during the half marathon. I know if I struck up a conversation on the street with a random person that it would probably not go as well. Running gives all of us a common ground to start from and we can go from there. It's just great!

I'm already signed up for my next half marathon, the IMT Des Moines Marathon which is in my hometown! I am also thinking about going for the gusto and running in the North Face Endurance Challenge 50K to celebrate turning 32! What do you guys think? I'm psyched on this whole distance running challenge!

See you on the roads!

Just found your blog.

Congratulations on your first half marathon! Great job! By the way, I still get excited about the medals - I'm addicted to the swag!

I think you should totally do the 50k!

Thanks Maddy!

I loved running the half marathon, it was great fun! I love overcoming the challenge and getting the medal to remember it.

I'm still working on the 50k training plan and seeing how it will work into my schedule of work and home.

Keep an eye on the blog, I'll make sure to post everything here!
