Warmer and warmer!

Summer is in full swing now! The weather is getting warmer and will pose a significant obstacle for me since I am not really a warm weather person. I'd rather run in 30 degrees than 80. But it's great to be out on the road nonetheless.

This past weekend I ran a 5k that was very special. Not because of a charity or because of my setting a new record. It was because my girlfriend Dorann ran with me! She did really well for her first race, listening to her body and how tired she was to take some walking breaks when she needed them. We finished running across the line together in 42:22. I am so proud of her finishing this challenge. I hope that she keeps up with running and someday breaks into the 30s for finishing time. I know she can do it.

Today's run went pretty well. Ran 2 miles at an 8:45 pace. I'm planning on speeding up my pace in the shorter runs to see if I can push it going toward the 50k. I need to get my speed up so I can have some minutes in the bag during the later stages of the race. Then I can slow down to finish and not worry about being over the 7 hour limit.

Run Summary:
Mile 1: 8:48
Mile 2: 8:41
Total: 17:34

See you on the roads folks!
Alex

Sub 9 minutes? That's pretty aggressive. Keep it up.

Thanks J!

I'm working on pushing the pace in shorter runs to replicate how tired and sore I'll be at the end of the 50k.

Something tells me I'll need to draw on that experience at the end. :-)
